As we are getting closer to Atsusacon 2013 it’s time to make ourselves more visible.

To do that, we need your help. We are looking for people that want to put up posters on various location to promote our event.

If you are interested in doing so, please let us know either through a PM, a message through our site or a mail to one of our mails (preferably pr@atsusacon.be though ;) ).

As some of you may have noticed this weekend, you are now able to by tickets online right here on our Facebook page and on our website.

After lots of thought and consideration as to where we want to go with our event we decided we wanted to really be different from the other (bigger) events in Belgium. We want to really put the focus on activities such as traditional activities, card games like Yu-Gi-Oh, sports, lectures, etc., in other words a real convention.

Unfortunately there is a downside to organizing all those activities when you are still building a name for yourself. That downside is funding it all. We still have vendors but that only covers a part of the cost. To be able to bring you more activities and of a high quality we have decided to increment the ticket price.

The ticket prices are as followed (online: excl. handling and transaction cost):

Pre-sale
- 1 day: €10
- 2 days: €15
Register

1 day: €13
2 days: €18

You are now also able to buy your tickets at a free record shop near you.
(above prices are excl. Free Record Shop handling costs).

Don’t forget to pay us a visit at Tsunacon coming weekend. We’ll be posting more updates in regards to Atsusacon 2013 as of now, especially in regards to the activities.

Official Atsusacon date and location

Atsusacon 2013 is coming next summer! Mark July 20 and 21 2013 on your calendar. Location stays the same.

Our second edition was success and thus a third edition needs to happen. At our third edition you can expect better service, activities and much more. We learn every day, every month on how to improve the experience for you.

Atsusacon 2012 received more visitors, had more space and activities and this will be further extended to the next year. We had guest speakers, workshops, the Japanese cultural center was present again to provide traditional games and workshops such as a thee ceremony.

In short, Atsusacon 2013 is a logical evolution.
You can expect more info as the time moves forward towards this major event.

Atsusacon is behind us. Just like last year it was a wild ride. We had more dealers, more room, more activities, etc. In short more of everything (incl. more rain).

While you enjoyed yourselves, the artists and dealers were spending the entire weekend selling their goods, talking to their fans and just having a good time.

Our partner the Japanese cultural Center made sure you could enjoy traditional Japanese activities in a calm environment with the occasional beats of the Taikonauts.

The cosplay competition on both days created fun for young and old and two foodstands provided refreshments.

Final information regarding Atsusacon 2012

We are entering the week of Atsusacon 2012 and with that we also put the final pieces of information on our website.

There will be two food stands, one in the hall which will sell regular food such as hotdodgs and soft drinks and a another one that will sell Japanese oriented food like Rice crackers, thee, etc.

Just like last year we will have vendors that will sell merchandise. They are placed in the hall. Together with them are DDR, Shiatsu and games as well as a few other conventions such as @Tsunacon.

Something else is coming back as well. The Japanese Cultural Center, now with a bit more traditional activities such as Kodo. Of course their amazing taikonauts are back as well.

For those that like to play cards, -and no, not the regular cards- we have provided some room for Yu-Gi-Oh! and Cardfight!! vanguard. It’s located between the first and second floor of the Meeting Center. For those more experienced with Yu-Gi-Oh! there is a tournament planned on Sunday. For an afternoon full of fun and excitement we only ask one euro.

Everyone that has some old stuff that they wish to sell, can do just that. Bring all your stuff with the accompanying paper (http://atsusacon.be/uploads/BringAndBuyAtsusacon2012.pdf) to the first floor of the Meeting Center and Mataki will try to sell it for a reasonable price to the visitors of the convention.

Golden week is almost here. Well almost for the Japanese, but do not worry, if you want to immerse yourself in the Japanese culture, Hoboken is the place to be during the golden week. From the 26th of april till the 5th of may there are a variety of things to do in the district of Hoboken.

Date Atsusacon and more

As some of you may have noticed, there isn’t a date on the site.

Until recently there was a complication regarding the hall we wanted. Another (bigger) event decided to change their date to our first pick, 14 and 15 July. Because that event has a bigger impact and audience, and connected I might add, we had to find another date.

We found one but the other event had already switched their date yet again.

Between the news that we had to change our date and the news the other event had changed once more was a month or two. Which brought us to the end of 2011 and because we were so close to the holidays we had to wait till the beginning of this year to finally get the news we wanted to hear, namely, that we got our first pick, 14 and 15 July back.

So we can finally say that the date for Atsusacon 2012 will be 14 and 15 July in the Antwerp Expo.

We are back in the meeting center, but this time, with half of hall 1!
Yep, you read it right, half a hall, this means an extra 2000m² to do our thing, and with the meeting center included, the total is a little under 2500m².
In other words, we grew times 4. With such an increase in space we will have a lot more room for the activities and merchants. But we will also need a lot more volunteers to help us guide everything.

Tumblr API

Since the new site went live, you might had some issues with it. Chances are that you saw a message about Tumblr.

If you saw that, it means their API (which we use for our site) is down which in turn means we couldn’t show our blog posts.

The site going down should be solved now, but after some reading we’ve found out that it isn’t a one time occurrence every year or so. So it seems that going social with the news posts as well might not have been such a good idea.

If it happens again in the following months, we’ll probably go back to doing it ourselves. Nothing will change for you, the visitor, only that you will stay on the site to view the entire post.

We apologize for this and hope that it didn’t cause too much problems.

New site and forum and much more to come

We’ve rolled out our new site and forum!

As you may have noticed Atsusacon has a new site and forum for you to visit when you need more info about the convention.

The previous site was good but focused too much on the aspect of summer. We decided to go with a more sober and simpler look this time that we can hopefully use for years to come.

The site now also works fluidly on mobile devices, just make your browser window smaller and see for yourself.

Since we updated the site we figured it was a good time to switch to our own hosted forum as well. This however means that we lose all the old data because it we didn’t host it ourselves and it the old forum uses an older version of the forum software we use for the new forum.

But we hope that you’ll fogive us because we now have a forum that we manage ourselves and if something should go wrong, we can check it right away.

Besides the new site and forum you can still expect more in the coming week(s).

We are in the last two weeks!

We had an interesting final meeting before the convention, the last few issues are being resolved and you can expect the floor plan online tomorrow or Tuesday, same with time schedule. I hope it’ll be to everybody’s liking.

We hope to see a lot of visitors at the first edition of Atsusacon at the Antwerp Expo Meeting Center, from young to old, from die hard otaku to somebody who has never heard of the word anime or just knows that Japan recently had an earthquake.
